Join California Poet Laureate Lee Herrick for a hands-on poetry writing workshop at the Tahoe Literary Festival. Herrick is the author of four poetry collections, In Praise of Late Wonder: New and Selected Poems, Scar and Flower, Gardening Secrets of the Dead, and This Many Miles from Desire. Herrick currently serves his second term as California's Poet Laureate, the first Asian American to hold the position.

In this workshop, participants will write new poems through guided prompts and exercises, with time to share work and get feedback in a low-pressure setting. Herrick's own poetry draws on memory, identity, and place. He'll bring that same attention to helping writers find material in their own lives and surroundings. Open to writers of all levels, from first-time poets to those with an established practice. Bring a notebook or laptop.
